چکیده

In this paper, the new fast vertical handover scheme is proposed for the hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) to optimize and enhance the existing fast vertical handover HMIPv6 (FVH-HMIPv6) in heterogeneous wireless access networks. The recently standardized IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover Function (MIHF) is adopted for the proposed FVH-HMIPv6. Firstly, the Media Independent Information Service (MIIS) is extended by including new L3 information to provide domain prefixes of heterogeneous neighbouring mobility anchor points (MAPs), which is critical to the handover performance of proposed FVHFMIPv6 with MIHF. Secondly, the operation procedure for the proposed scheme is described in detail. Finally, the analysis for handover performance is performed for the proposed scheme and the existing scheme, which shows the proposed FVH-HMIPv6 with MIHF can optimize and enhance the handover performance of the existing scheme.

An Optimized Vertical Inter-map Handover Scheme for Hmipv6 in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks

An optimized fast vertical inter-mobility anchor point (MAP) handover scheme for Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) is proposed for heterogeneous wireless access networks. Two existing non-optimized vertical handover schemes – the simple vertical inter-MAP handover for HMIPv6 (SVH6) and fast vertical inter-MAP handover for HMIPv6 (FVH6) – assisted by existing hierarchical handover and fast hando...

A Fast Handover Scheme for Proxy Mobile IPv6 using IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover

In this paper, to resolve the problem of existing schemes, an alternative fast handover Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) scheme using the IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover (MIH) function is proposed for heterogeneous wireless networks. The proposed scheme comes to support fast handover for the mobile node (MN) irrespective of the presence or absence of MIH functionality as well as L3 mobility fu...

The Backward Fast Media Independent Handover for Proxy Mobile IPv6 Control Scheme (BFMIH-PMIPV6) over Heterogeneous Wireless Mobile Networks

Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is a networked-based handover protocol for the IP layer, i.e., the layer 3 mobility management protocol. In this work, we integrated fast handover and IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover (MIH) Services with PMIPv6 to improve the handover performance over the heterogeneous wireless network environment. Since the handover performance of the predictive mode is better ...

An Optimal Vertical Handover Strategy for Vehicular Network based on IEEE 802.21 MIH standards

Media Independent Handover (MIH) is a standard proposed by IEEE 802.21 working group to facilitate vertical handover support between heterogeneous wireless networks. Currently, the implementation of the IEEE 802.21 standard supported in ns2, provided by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) considers only the signal strength as a parameter to determine the destination network. S...
